Coriander Sowing Is About 9% Backward in Gujarat

by | Nov 18, 2022 | Coriander, Spices

Coriander sowing in the current season so far in the state is about 9 percent backwards due to about 8 percent sowing lag in Saurashtra. According to the latest data released by the state agriculture department, 32,200 hectares of coriander have been sown in Gujarat during the current season.
Current Scenario
In its latest figures, the state agriculture department has said that 35,500 hectares of this major grocery commodity had been sown during the period under review last season. On this basis, so far in Gujarat, the sowing of coriander is 3300 hectares or 9.29% backward. The main reason for this is that this major grocery commodity sowing has yet to catch up in the state’s biggest producing region, i.e. Saurashtra. Coriander has been under pressure for 11-14 weeks now and constantly seeing downfalls.
Future Scenario
The marriage season is around the corner for the next four to five weeks, and the Ramzan festival buying will commence in December. Hence, according to the sources, the prices will recover to some extent.’
The Coriander seeds prices were Recorded at $1,41 per kg FOB.
