Market players stated that farmers expect higher buying prices from TMO for the new crop as their costs have increased compared with the previous season. In September last year, TMO had announced the purchase price of 19-23 TL.
Unlike the official statements, farmers argue that yields are lower. After the harvest, separating the apricots from the kernels has now started in many places. Some exporters had given price offers for new crop apricots being 4.400 Usd/mt for Jumbo, 4.200 USD/mt for Type nr.1 and 2, 4.050 USD/mt for type nr 3 and 4 on FOB Mersin basis last week, which remained the same, but a big part of the exporters preferred to wait until the end of the Sacrifice Festival.
