Turkey’s new crop figs were loaded last week. The fig season made a good start. Market players stated that there is enormous interest in fresh crop figs. However, the raw material prices are also increasing enormously. This makes it difficult for the suppliers to calculate long-term demands.
Many of the exporters are participants or visitors at the Anuga in Cologne which will last until the 13th of October, 2021. The expectations are that the price increases will continue for a while.
But we can already say that qualitative goods are now collected from the market and in warehouses of the traders and the exporters.
The Turkish Lira has also depreciated since last week by approximately 2%.
During the first week of the new crop, Turkey exported 5965 mt of dried figs and figs products, which was 3085 mt during the same week of last year. The total exports range at 5.781 mt, which was 8.471 mt in total in the same period of the previous year.
