Turkish dried sultana raisins exporters have geared up, so the fresh grapes exporters. Market players informed that Turkey is exporting 100 trucks full of fresh grapes daily nowadays for a month. Meanwhile, the export of fresh grapes has reached more than 60.000 mt, and the Season is not over yet.
Also, dried sultana raisin suppliers have geared up their export speed with around 5.000 mt exports per week since few weeks. No statements are made yet by the Minister of Agriculture about the new crop or the base purchase price of TMO. Some market players state that this could be in the first week of September by the latest as last year. TMO had announced the base price in the previous year on 2 September and started with the purchase on 7 September 2020. Market players state that the harvest has started one week earlier due to scorching temperatures and that the Ministry is not delaying with the announcements. Still, farmers expected a statement immediately when they started with the harvest.
Huge discussions about the raw material prices of the new crop continue on the market as the farmers wish at least 16.50 TL /kg for typenr.9. TMO had purchased 65.000 mt sultana raisins last Season; their carryover is expected to be around 15.000-20.000 mt and has not made any statement until today about the crop. Farmers expect that TMO will start immediately to buy after the price announcement. The exporters offer still at 1700 USD/mt on FOB basis for type nr.9, crop 2021 this week since the appreciation of the Turkish Lira continued.
The prices for organic sultana raisins remained the same at 2.200 Euro/mt levels (approx 2600 USD/mt). TL has again appreciated and reached for Usd/TL rate is at 8.43TL ( 8.45 last week) and Euro/TL rate at 9.91 TL levels ( 9.98 last week). The total exports until 21 August 2021 were 218.407 mt, which was 243.186 mt the previous year during the same period. Turkey exported 4870 mt of sultana raisins last week, which was 4555 mt during the same week of the previous Season.
