Sultana Raisins: What will the new season bring?

Exporters have started working again. The temperatures in Manisa are still cool at night. Meanwhile, growers started collecting fresh vineyard leaves from the World famous Sultani vineyards in its plain, which are bought from 12 TL /kg. Women especially do leaf collection works to provide income for their families.

The raw material prices at the Commodity Exchange in Izmir are as last week. Exporters offer still at 1450-1500 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for type nr.9 and at 2000-2100 Usd/mt on FOB Izmir basis for organic type nr.9.

Market players informed that rumors started already concerning the new Season and whether TMO will buy raisins, the price, and whether there will be a carryover from this Season. It is also spoken that the carryover may be around 50 thousand mt and that new crop can be expected as many as this year again.
